Young Tigers Defeat Golden Arrows

The 6th grade Young Tigers defeated the Lavaca Golden Arrows 20-6 at Alumni Field, making their record 5-1 on the season.

Leading the team offensively were Kaden Benge with 8 carries for 62 yards and a touchdown followed by Tanner Jones with 9 carries for 56 yards and a touchdown. Also contributing for the offense were Connor Rowland with 4 carries for 9 yards and Brayden Ross with 11 carries for 27 yards, a touchdown and a 2-point conversion. Ross was also 2-4 for 62 yards through the air — a 39 yard completion to Hayden Fredrick and a 23 yard completion to Brett Ward.

The Young Tiger defense forced three turnovers, an interception by Benge, a fumble recovery by Ward and an onside kick recovery by Jones. Jones also led in tackles with 5 followed by Ward with 3 and Ross, Devin Donberger and Shane Turner with 2 each.

The first round of the playoffs will be this Saturday (time and location TBA).
