Hazel Olano

Hazel Mae Miller Olano, age 86, of Austin, Texas, formerly of Ozark, Arkansas, died Wednesday, December 18, 2013. She was born on February 5, 1927 in Webb City, Arkansas to Luther Miller and Ola Ursla Almond Miller. She lived in Houston, Texas for over 40 years, raising her four daughters there. She retired from Sam Houston Memorial Hospital in 1986, after 20 years of service. She and her husband, Ray, moved to Ozark, Arkansas in 1991, upon his retirement from Exxon.

Hazel is survived by her daughter, Sherry Susan Hall and husband David of Austin, Texas; daughter, Lisa Ann Hampshire and husband, Charles of Frisco, Texas; daughter, Joy Linn Crain of Ozark, and daughter, Jennifer Jo Shaffer and husband Jack of Ozark; grandson, Coby Ashton Turner of The Colony Texas; grandson, Mason Andrew Turner of Houston, Texas; grandson, Wesley Anton Turner and wife Carly of Pearland, Texas; granddaughter, Kinsey Lorynn Eliot and husband Don of The Colony Texas; grandson, Jake Winston Shaffer of Ozark, Arkansas; granddaughter, Jacey Jo Shaffer of Ozark, Arkansas; great grandsons, Kindon Eliot, Wyatt Turner, Logan Eliot and Ayden Shaffer ; great granddaughters, Ashton Turner, Kiely Turner, Henley Schmalz-Turner and Harper Turner; sister, Dymple Beddingfield of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; brother, Max Miller and his wife Helen of Houston Texas; brother, Paul Miller and his wife Peggy of Pearland, Texas; sister, Kay Darden of Dickinson, Texas; sister in law, Lora Miller Allen of Hot Springs, Arkansas; sister in law Patricia Miller of Nashville, Tennessee; numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ashton Ray Olano; and her brothers, Joe and Jim Miller.

Funeral service was held at 3:30 PM, Saturday, December 21, 2013 at Shaffer Funeral home in Ozark, Arkansas with Reverend Ted Darling officiating. Interment followed in Highland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
