Afton Looney

Afton V. Looney, 90, of Charleston, AR died Tuesday, July 15, 2014 in Fort Smith, AR. He was born August 20, 1923 in Charleston to Edgar M. Looney and Golda Mae Lane Looney. He was a member of Charleston First Baptist Church. He served in the Air Forced in World War ll and was retired from the Corp of Engineers as Lockmaster at Lock and Dam 13 in Barling, AR. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Linda Neissl, a son Rodney Looney, two sisters Reba Aldridge and Ruby Womack and brother, Roy Looney.

Service was held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 17th, 2014 at Smith Mortuary Chapel with interment at Garden of Memories under the direction of Smith Mortuary.

Survivors are his wife of 67 years, Rosemary Looney of the home, one son Gary Looney and wife Patsy of Charleston, son-in-law Bobby Neissl of Charleston, one sister Vera Johnson of Merced, CA., six grandchildren Melissa Neissl of Fort Smith, Jason Looney of Charleston, Jennifer Brown and husband Landon, of Altus, Matt Neissl and wife Brenda of Ft. Smith, Cara Lantrip and husband Nick of Austin, TX, James Looney of Beaumont, TX, six great grandchildren Dyland and Jordyn Brown of Altus, Hudson & Abigayle Neissl of Fort Smith, Mia Lantrip of Austin, TX and Tucker Neissl of Fort Smith.

Pall Bearers were Bobby Neissl, Leroy Womack, Jason Looney, Matt Neissl, James Looney and Landon Brown.
