Remembering The Poppy

The poppy is one of the most widely recognized American Legion Auxiliary programs. Each year, usually around Memorial Day and Veterans Day, Auxiliary volunteers distribute millions of bright red crepe paper poppies. Donations are greatly appreciated when a poppy if given out. Donations received assist disabled and hospitalized veterans.

Hospitalized veterans who make the flowers are able to earn a small wage, and the physical and mental activity provides many therapeutic benefits.

Auxiliary members honor the men and women who served and died for their country during all wars wear the poppy’s worldwide symbol of sacrifice.

Donations are used to assist and support veterans and their families. The poppy also reminds the community of the continuing needs of our veterans.

Auxiliary volunteers will have poppies available to pick up on Friday, May 23rd between the hours of 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM at Charleston Super Stop, CV’s Family Foods, and the Charleston Senior Citizen.

Thank you for supporting this cause.
