Charleston High School Honor Graduates

Wesley Wells, Sydney Martin and Matthew Schmitz were named the top three graduates of the 2013 Charleston graduating class. All three will give speeches during graduation ceremonies at 7 p.m. on Friday night, May 17th at the Charleston Alumni Field.

Wesley is the son of Mitchell and Jill Wells.

He will attend the University of Arkansas – Fayetteville and major in Mathematics and Economics. He was a member of Band, Basketball, Student Council, Treasurer of FBLA, Senior Class President, Treasurer of Beta Club, Eagle Scout, Vice President of FCA, and President of the Chess Club. He received a Honors College Fellowship Scholarship for $12,500 per year or $50,000 and a Governor’s Distinguished Scholarship for $10,000 per year or $40,000.

Sydney is the daughter of Buford and Kim Martin and Brian and Betty Hawk.

She will attend the University of Arkansas – Fayetteville and major in Pre-Med. She was a member of FBLA and Beta Club. She received an Honors College Academy Scholarship for $16,000 and the Arkansas Lottery Scholarship for $14,000.

Matthew is the son of James and Michele Schmitz.

He will attend UCA and major in Biology. He was in the CHS Band for 7 years, Beta Club, FBLA, Boys State, Sacred Heart CYM and Knights of Columbus. He received the UCA Distinguished Scholarship for $36,000 and the Governor’s Distinguished Scholarship for $40,000.
