The Annual Charleston Alumni Weekend will be held this weekend, June 6-9 and promises something for everyone.
The Belle Museum will get things started early on Thursday night, June 6th, with a Gospel and Bluegrass singing that will be held in the Museum Chapel, beginning at 7pm. There will be a variety of entertainment, including Gospel and Bluegrass.
The Belle Museum, located on the corner of Main and North Greenwood Streets in Charleston, will be open Thursday, Friday and Saturday, June 6th, 7th, and 8th, and after the Sunday meeting. Several new exhibits will be shown giving area residents and visitors a chance to reminisce about the areas history
The Early Bird Reception, sponsored by Simmons First National Bank, will kick off the weekend activities, beginning at 7pm on Friday, June 7th. The Early Bird Reception will be held at the Community Center, which is located on the Charleston Fairgrounds, on the eastside of Charleston.
Saturday morning activities will start off with a pancake breakfast, sponsored by the Charleston Lions Club, held in the Charleston First United Methodist Church Family Life Center. The breakfast, which runs from 6 to 10am, will include pancakes, bacon, sausage and biscuits and gravy. Donations will be accepted to help the Charleston Lions Club.
The annual golf tournament will be held on Saturday, June 8th at Little Creek Country Club. The tournament will use the same format as in the past, with a shotgun start beginning Saturday morning at 8am. HugGM will again sponsor a hole in one with a grand prize of a new 2013 Chevrolet Malibu. The new redesigned Malibu was named “best in class sound levels,” with a comfortable and quite ride as well as great fuel economy of up to 37mpg highway. Several class reunions will be held on Saturday, which always helps bring lots of former residents back to this area.
Sunday activities will start off with the annual dinner, sponsored by the Charleston Beta Club, which will be held in the Charleston Middle School Cafeteria from 11am to 1pm. The annual meeting will be held in the Charleston Middle School Auditorium following the dinner.
